Indoor Fire Cabinet System (Fixed Piping)
Indoor Fire Cabinet System (Fixed Piping)
The main purpose of fire cabinet systems is to provide a reliable and sufficient water supply for effective firefighting within buildings.
Each building is equipped with an internal fire hydrant line and fire hose cabinets, designed in compliance with EN 671 standards.
These systems are intended for use by trained personnel, building occupants, or firefighters during emergencies.
Fire Brigade Connection Line
To ensure effective firefighting operations, buildings must have fire brigade connection points designed for external intervention.
These systems are required in:
-
High-rise buildings
-
Shopping malls with an area exceeding 1000 m²
-
Parking garages and large commercial facilities
Connections must be installed in protected and accessible locations.
In buildings over 60 meters in height, fire cabinets and hose outlets must be available on every floor.
Maximum Distance to Outlet:
No point in the building should be more than 60 meters from a hose outlet.
All outlets must be storz-type couplings, 50 mm or 65 mm in diameter, compatible with fire service equipment.
Fire Cabinet Placement
Fire cabinets must be installed on every floor and in each fire-compartmented section, with a maximum distance of 30 meters between them.
They should be placed:
-
Near corridor exits,
-
Stairwell landings,
-
And in visible, easily accessible areas.
In sprinkler-protected buildings, cabinets may be supplied from the wet sprinkler line, extending the spacing to 45 meters.
Cabinet Design
Each cabinet must be large enough to house all required components — hose, nozzle, and valve — and designed to allow quick and unobstructed use during a fire.
They must be reserved exclusively for fire equipment and not repurposed for storage.
Hose Types and Standards
EN 671-1 – Semi-Rigid (Round) Hose Reels
Used in locations without trained firefighting personnel.
-
Hose diameter: ≤ 25 mm
-
Hose length: ≤ 30 m
-
Nozzle functions: Shut-off, jet, and spray
-
Design flow rate: 100 L/min
-
Minimum pressure: 400 kPa
-
Pressure > 900 kPa → Pressure reducer required
EN 671-2 – Lay-Flat Hose Reels
Used where trained fire personnel are present.
-
Hose diameter: 50 mm
-
Hose length: 20 m
-
Design flow rate: 400 L/min
-
Minimum pressure: 400 kPa
-
Pressure > 900 kPa → Pressure reducer required
Maintenance and Inspection
Per EN 671-3, fire cabinets and hose reels must undergo annual maintenance and testing by the building owner or designated manager.
This includes leak tests, valve operation, pressure verification, and hose condition checks.
Regular inspection ensures maximum system reliability during emergencies.
Engineered by MYMEC GROUP
At MYMEC GROUP, we design, install, and maintain fire cabinet and hose reel systems compliant with EN 671 and national fire codes.
Each installation is tailored to the building layout, risk category, and applicable regulations.
Our goal is to deliver reliable, durable, and compliant first-response systems that provide immediate protection in case of fire.
