Fan Coil System

Fan coil systems are efficient HVAC solutions that combine a heat exchanger (coil) and a fan to provide both heating and cooling.
They are water-based systems, suitable for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, offering zone-level climate control.

Hot or chilled water produced at the central plant is circulated through fan coil units, where air passes over the coil and is heated or cooled before being supplied back into the room.

How It Works

Each fan coil unit consists of a fan and a heat exchange coil.
Room air is drawn into the unit, passes over the coil, and is conditioned based on the temperature of the circulating water:

• Hot water → heating

• Chilled water → cooling

Pumps maintain continuous water circulation between the plant and the fan coils, ensuring stable temperature regulation throughout the building.

• Renovation projects where ductwork is impractical

• Offices, hospitals, hotels, residential towers

• Areas requiring individual comfort control

Fan coil units can be installed in various configurations:

• Under windows (floor-mounted)

• Concealed in ceilings or bulkheads

System Configurations

Two-Pipe System

A single coil handles both heating and cooling using the same supply and return lines.
The mode (heating/cooling) must be switched seasonally.
This is a cost-effective solution but lacks simultaneous operation flexibility.

Four-Pipe System

Contains two separate coils — one for hot water, one for chilled water.
Allows simultaneous heating and cooling in different building zones.
Ideal for mid-season operation and premium comfort environments.

Fresh Air Integration

Fan coil systems can be coupled with a central fresh air handling unit, forming a primary air fan coil system.
This setup ensures proper ventilation and air quality while maintaining individual zone control.
It also prevents cross-contamination of odors or smoke between rooms.
